Today marks a seminal moment for the healthcare compliance industry. Compliancy Group has acquired Healthicity, uniting two organizations that have independently spent more than two decades earning the trust of healthcare organizations across the country. The combined company will serve more than 3,000 healthcare organizations across the U.S. and select global markets. For the first time, customers can access the full breadth of compliance capabilities, including provider, coding, and documentation auditing, from a single trusted partner.

This is a logical and powerful step in Compliancy Group's strategy: building the definitive platform for healthcare compliance programs. With the addition of Healthicity's software and advisory services, we are immediately accelerating our ability to deliver best-in-class compliance and auditing services to a market that has long needed a unified, defensible, and modern approach.

Why this acquisition, and why now

Healthcare compliance has never carried higher stakes. The regulatory environment has grown more complex, the consequences of failure have grown more severe, and the bar for what counts as a defensible program has risen sharply.

95%
of HIPAA fines cite missing risk assessment documentation
$7.42M

70%

Organizations are no longer being asked simply to run a compliance program. They are being asked to prove it is working: to regulators, to auditors, to boards, and to the patients whose data they hold. Today's acquisition is a direct response to that need.

What changes for the market

Until now, healthcare organizations have generally had to assemble a complete compliance program from multiple vendors: one platform for workforce training, another for risk assessments, a separate tool for auditing, and yet another for incident management. The result is a fragmented program that is hard to manage, harder to defend, and nearly impossible to score against a single standard.

The combined Compliancy Group platform changes that. Customers now have one organization they can rely on for:

  • Provider, coding, and documentation auditing, powered by Healthicity's market-leading auditing methodology and software
  • Workforce compliance and training, role-based, tracked, and attestable
  • HIPAA, OSHA, and security risk assessments, with audit-ready documentation
  • Third-party and BAA risk management, addressing the fastest-growing breach vector
  • Incident management, track, investigate, and document in one place
  • Policies and procedures, a managed library kept current with regulatory change
  • Compliance advisory services, certified expert guidance, on call

All of it built around the seven elements defined by the OIG as the foundation of an effective compliance program, and tied together with a single conformance score that tells you (and anyone auditing you) exactly where your program stands.

Crispin Vary
"For the first time, a healthcare organization can run its entire compliance program, from workforce training and risk assessment to vendor oversight, incident management, and now provider, coding, and documentation auditing, from a single trusted partner with one conformance score. That is a fundamental shift in what is possible for our customers."

Why Healthicity, specifically

Healthicity is not a complementary bolt-on. It is a category-defining provider of healthcare auditing and compliance software, with flagship products like Compliance Manager, Audit Manager, Audit Manager+, advanced reporting and consulting services that are widely respected across physician groups, ACOs, skilled nursing facilities, hospitals, payers, and the vendors that support them.

When two leaders in adjacent categories come together, the result is not addition; it is multiplication. Healthicity's deep auditing expertise complements Compliancy Group's leadership in compliance programs, and the combined team can deliver depth of capability that neither company could have produced alone.

Darin Johnson
"Compliancy Group is known across the industry for top-tier service, deep regulatory expertise, and a track record of product innovation that few in this space can match. They are the ideal company to carry Healthicity's work forward, and I have full confidence that our clients will be exceptionally well served."
Darin Johnson · Chief Executive Officer, Healthicity

What this means if you are a customer

If you are a current Compliancy Group customer

Nothing changes about your service today. Your point of contact, your contract, your platform access, and your pricing all remain the same. In the near future, you'll have the opportunity to learn more about Healthicity's auditing tools and methodology, and we'll share ways to explore them as those opportunities become available.

If you are a current Healthicity customer

There will be no disruption to your existing products, services, or customer relationships during the integration period. Your Healthicity team continues to support you, your contracts remain in force, and the software you rely on continues to operate as it does today. You are now part of a larger organization with deeper resources and a broader platform, and the path to additional capabilities, when you want them, has never been shorter.

If you are evaluating compliance software today

You now have access to the most complete platform in the category, from a single vendor, with one team, one conformance score, and one source of truth for your compliance program. That is a meaningfully different proposition than what existed in the market yesterday.

Introducing Audit Manager+

As part of the acquisition, Healthicity's flagship auditing product joins the Compliancy Group platform as Audit Manager+ by Compliancy Group. Built to handle chart audit, coding compliance, and audit workflow, Audit Manager+ gives healthcare organizations the tools they need to not just perform audits, but prove the work, with the documentation, structure, and defensibility regulators and payers expect.

For organizations that have been running compliance and auditing as separate tracks, Audit Manager+ closes that gap and brings auditing and your compliance program under one roof.

Backed for the long term

This acquisition reflects Compliancy Group's strategy, in partnership with growth equity sponsor Aldrich Capital Partners, of building the definitive platform for healthcare compliance programs.

Raz Zia
