July Healthcare Breaches and Hacking/IT Incidents

The majority of July healthcare breaches were caused by hacking or IT incidents. These types of breaches occur when an unauthorized individual gains access to an organization’s protected health information (PHI). In July, 971,768 patients were affected by hacking or IT incidents.

Greenway Health, LLC: affected 2,251 patients

Tak-ming Ko, M.D., LLC: affected 1,158 patients

Accu Copy of Greenville, Incorporated: affected 21,800 patients

Although there were only three incidents due to theft or loss of PHI, they affected 93,932 patients.
